Stem cells possess a wide range of utilization, from engineering specific human neuronal cell types to the generation of mini ‘brain-like’ organoids and bioprinting of 3D neuronal networks. These advances in technology enable new and exciting opportunities in the modeling and study of the human nervous system, such as the building of screening platforms for candidate therapies to treat neurological diseases. |

Professor Mirella Dottori,
PhD
Lab Director of Stem Cell and Neural Modeling
Mirella Dottori is Professor within the School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences, University of Wollongong, Australia. Her research combines technologies in human pluripotent stem cell biology, neuroscience, and bioengineering to develop advanced cellular models of the human nervous system. Her studies have contributed to progress in human neurodevelopment and made an impact in regenerative medicine for neurological diseases, particularly in regards to Friedreich’s ataxia.
