Omar Abudayyeh directs the Abudayyeh-Gootenberg lab developing gene editing and synthetic biology technologies through protein engineering and AI for therapeutics and aging research. A former McGovern Fellow at MIT with a Ph.D. from Harvard/MIT, he pioneered CRISPR innovations with dozens of patents and 35,000+ citations across 50+ publications in top journals. He co-founded Sherlock Biosciences, Proof Diagnostics, and Tome Biosciences, raising hundreds of millions for CRISPR-based applications. His accolades include Technology Review Innovators Under 35, Forbes 30 under 30, and Endpoints 20 under 40 Biotech Leaders. Abudayyeh graduated from MIT in 2012 with engineering degrees as a Henry Ford II and Goldwater Scholar, and studied medicine at Harvard Medical School. |
