Potential COVID-19 Treatment and Cytokines Role to support ongoing COVID-19 research Cytokines include a group of proteins that are secreted primarily by the immune cell to help restrict COIVD-19. Some cytokines however, can also trigger inflammation which can be problematic. A recent study has shown two cytokines in particular produce inflammatory cell death, which in turn causes the release of more cytokines and the issue causing inflammation; these two cytokines are Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF)-Alpha and Interferon (IFN)-Gamma. The finding was these cytokines paired together mirror the symptoms that one would see as a COVID-19 patient. The study describes neutralizing antibodies against Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF)-Alpha and Interferon (IFN)-Gamma were able to protect mice from death associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Supporting COVID-19 & Life Science Research In case you missed it, we recently released our SARS-CoV-2 IgG Seroconversion ELISA Kit for the qualitative determination of SARS-CoV-2 specific antibodies of IgG class in plasma or serum samples. This kit is specific to the RBD of the spike protein, ensuring high sensitivity and specificity. We also offer a recombinant version of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike Protein RBD. We also introduced our new Viral Transport Media (VTM) line and Synthetic Human Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) to help support ongoing research into COVID-19 and other life science applications.
