The Ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) plays fundamental roles in cell physiology, from degradation of proteins to protein trafficking, autophagy, mitophagy and posttranslational modification. Nature encodes ~700 E3 ligases to manage UPS function. Future drugs will come from UPS, such as E3 ligases , PROTACs  and molecular glues .
