Magnetic beads offer a cutting-edge solution for large-scale purification processes. Magnetic beads are non-porous, superparamagnetic, monodisperse, and highly cross-linked magnetic microspheres. The entire bead is composed of homogeneously dispersed magnetic material.
Acting as a solid-phase carrier, they effectively bind to the target sample. Under an applied magnetic field, they enable rapid sample extraction and purification through liquid-phase separation. Magnetic beads are extensively used in a variety of applications such as,
nucleic acid extraction, immunoassays (including IP and Co-IP), protein purification, as well as next-generation sequencing. |
A General Procedure of Protein Purification with Magnetic Beads |
1. |
Sample Preparation: Depending on experimental requirements, prepare samples using methods such as sonication or RIPA. Protein stability can be enhanced by adding protease/kinase inhibitors (HY-K0010,
HY-K0017, etc.) during sample preparation. Multiple samples can be processed concurrently. |
2. |
Magnetic Beads Preparation: Take an appropriate amount of Magnetic Beads suspension, wash Magnetic Beads with washing buffer. Perform magnetic separation with a magnetic stand or rack, and discard the supernatant. |
3. |
Incubation: Mix the sample with the magnetic beads in the appropriate ratio, and incubate at the suitable temperture for the sample. |
4. |
Protein Separation: Perform magnetic separation to isolate the magnetic beads with the target protein. |
5. |
Protein Elution: Select an elution method compatible with downstream experiments. |
6. |
Target Protein Collection: Perform magnetic separation and collect the supernatant for subsequent analysis. |
7. |
Detection: Analyze the collected proteins using SDS-PAGE, IP, Co-IP, etc. |

In molecular experiments, protocols of magnetic bead-based nucleic acid purification and immunoprecipitation experiments (e.g., IP, Co-IP, ChIP) require a magnetic separation device. MCE Magnetic Stand not only facilitates the separation, with minimum sample loss, but also simplifies the experimental procedures and enhances overall work efficiency. As the use of magnetic beads for nucleic acid and protein separation continues to grow, magnetic stands have become indispensable tools in many laboratories. |
