Synthetic amyloid b-peptide (5-16):RHDSGYEVHHQK-NH2 represents part of the larger amyloid b-peptide that precipitates as amyloid plaques in the brain of patients with Alzheimer’s disease. The plaque-related peptides are 40-43 aminoacid residues in length. The binding of this antibody to amyloid beta-peptide depends on the presence of residues 10-16.
