BHMT (Betaine-homocysteine methyltransferase) is a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of betaine and homocysteine to dimethylglycine and methionine. Defects in this gene could lead to hyperhomocyst(e)inemia, but such a defect has not yet been observed.
