Caspase-6 is involved in the activation cascade of caspases responsible for apoptosis execution. Caspase-6 is activated by cleavage by CPP32, caspase-8, or -10 which generates the two active subunits. Caspase-6 cleaves poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase in vitro as well as lamins.
