Description

The CD5 antigen (Lymphocyte antigen T1/Leu-1) is a 67 kDa type-I single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein. CD5 antigen is early expressed during thymocyte development and is displayed on all mature T lymphocytes, on a small subset of peripheral B lymphocytes, and on most Ig+ B-chronic lymphoblastic leukemia (B-CLL) cells. CD5 is a ligand for the CD72 antigen expressed on B lymphocytes and is involved in T cell signaling, activation, proliferation and interaction with B cells.
