Description

Cytokeratin-8 (Type II cytoskeletal keratin 8), together with KRT19, helps to link the contractile apparatus to dystrophin at the costameres of striated muscle. Cytokeratin-8 is a heterotetramer of two type I and two type II keratins. Defects in cytokeratin-8 are a cause of cirrhosis (CIRRH).
