Hepatitis C virus NS1 protein (HCV-NS1) is an envelope glycoprotein whose full-length form is found in the cell membranes of infected indiduals, and truncated forms are found extracellularly. Mutations in HCV-NS1 have been shown to inhibit virulence and RNA synthesi, but the biological function of HCV-NS1 is unclear.
