Description

Heat shock 27 kDa protein (HSP27) is involved in stress resistance and actin organization. HSP27 interacts with TGFB1 and associates with alpha- and beta-tubulin, microtubules and CRYAB. HSP27 is localized in the cytoplasm in interphase cells, colocalizes with mitotic spindles in mitotic cells and translocates to the nucleus during heat shock. Defects in HSP27 are the cause of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2F, a common inherited disorder of the peripheral nervous system.
