Description

Meloxicam, an enolic acid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID), has been to shown to inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) over cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) at low doses. Free-fractions (non abumin -bound) of meloxicam have been shown to be at 2.5 times the level as compared to plasma. This is suggested as one reason for meloxicam’s effectiveness in treating joint inflammation.
