Mesothelin, also called megakaryocyte-potentiating factor (MPF), potentiates megakaryocyte colony formation in vitro. Membrane-anchored forms are involved in cellular adhesion. Antibodies against mesothelin are detected in patients with mesothelioma and ovarian cancer.
