TmR2 (GDNFR –beta, RETL2, TRN-R, GFRa-2NTNR-a, GDNF family receptor alpha 2,TGF -beta related neurotrophic factor receptor 2) is a glial cell line-derived potent neurotrophic factor that plays a key role in the control of neuronal survival and differentiation. TmR2 belongs to the GDNFR family and is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)- linked cell surface receptor for both GDNF and NTN. TmR2 mediates activation of the RET tyrosine kinase receptor and is a candidate gene for RET-associated diseases.
