Description

Vascular endothelial growth factor-1 (VEGF164) is a growth factor active in angiogenesis, vasculogenesis and endothelial cell growth. VEGF164, a secreted form of VEGF, induces endothelial cell proliferation, promotes cell migration, inhibits apoptosis and induces permeabilization of blood vessels. VEGF164 binds to the FLT1/VEGFR1 and KDR/VEGFR2 receptors, heparan sulfate and heparin. VEGF164 also plays a role in increasing vascular permeability during lactation
