Description

Vilazodone is a combined serotonin specific reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and 5-HT1A receptor partial agonist currently under clinical evaluation for the treatment of major depression. Vilazodone combines the antidepressant effects of a selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) with partial serotonin (5-HT)(1A)-receptor agonist activity. Vilazodone can produce long-term MDD remission and offer significant advantages over the current standard of care.
