類器官(organoid)是由多個細胞組成3D的立體結構組織,透過體外的3D組織培養技術可以模擬器官組織在體內的生長條件。與簡單的傳統型2D細胞培養相比,3D組織培養多了細胞與細胞之間以及細胞與細胞外基質之間的交互作用,因此類器官3D的培養環境會更符合在人體內的生長環境。綜合上述優勢現今越來越多研究開始改變培養模式,類器官培養近期也成為生物研究的一個重要工具。
類器官的來源可以自胚胎幹細胞 (ESC)、誘導性全能幹細胞(iPSC) 或初代組織。不同的細胞類型和要後續要分化類型都需要不同的成分的培養基,而培養基中會需要生長因子,如EGF, Noggin (NOG), R-spondin (RSPO1), HGF, BMP和 FGF, 以上皆是類器官培養基的重要成分。
